Failed NCLEX

Published

Well...it looks like I'm not the only one. I took NCLEX on Tuesday morning and just found out I failed it. My state only allows us to retake it every 90 days. I guess I have lots of time to study up...any thoughts?! I have the Lippincott book, the Kaplan in a box, and a study guide from the local university. Most of my test was drugs...which I am the worst at! I am so humiliated right now and feel extremely stupid. I am realizing that about 10 of us from my school have failed so far. Ugh...I hate this test!

Try not to let it get you down. Have you tried Suzanne's plan?

Good luck to you and keep your head up!

Take some time off from studing and check out Suzanne's plan.

Saunder's 4th edition is amazing, and it really cleared up the complexity of the content. Take a look at Suzanne's Plan as well. After you've posted 15 times on this site you can send her a pm (personal message) with all of the required information. I commend you for all that you have done thus far, now there's only one more step! Be optimistic and keep on moving forward to your goal.

thank you so much to all who have replied. I am going to try and find Suzanne's plan. I keep hearing about it. I am doing better now. My boss and the crew at the hospital is amazing and they are going to keep my spot open for me! I have such good friends.

Thanks again!

I am waiting for my fail letter....you aren't alone at all. Try Suzanne's plan, it is well organized and clear in reviewing Saunders. But get the 4th edition...I currently have the 3rd and I heard that the 4th edition has more SATA's than the previous edition. Good luck in reviewing again....I wish you truly the best. We both will get the title....soon!;)

I used Nursing Made Incredibly Easy NCLEX Review and Exam Cram - NCLEX by Pearson, the same people that do the testing. They give you a CD of practice questions with the book. There were 20 relatively short chapters covering all the subjects. Worked for me.

I did Kaplan online and it worked for me. Honestly, I didn't even do that many questions, but I would recommend doing as much as possible.

As for meds, I suck with those too, but typically you can figure out what the med does if you look at the answer choices.

The exam is always going to focus on your weak area or areas, that is just the nature of the beast.

When you prepare for this exam, it is going to be as if you have never prepared before, so the 90 days is actually a very good thing. See too many people rush to get it over with and they never prepare properly and then they have to do it again.

Take a week or two for yourself and then the first tip of my program can be found in a sticky at the top of this page.

Best of luck to you and you can pass the exam.

Seems to me that some nursing schools seem to prepare their students for the NCLEX better than others do. We did meds pub for two years to prepare us for the NCLEX, most of our tests in nursing school were written in "NCLEX" format, and we had a week-long review right before we graduated with a lady that writes questions for the NCLEX test bank. To be honest, I could have passed the NCLEX without any additional studying. And I attribute that to my schooling, not to some innate ability on my part.
