Failed again.. Losing hope!

Published

I took the boards yesterday for my # of numerous times and this was the first taking the updated version one they say. It was hell for me! I walked in there saying i can do it! God is with me and i will pass this. But i was wrong! Due to the trick it went to the cc page... :( heartbroken inside and having thoughts thinking maybe this isnt the career for me.

Before i began my test i said a little prayer for help and strength. Got through the first question then sata pops up! Then third question was a drug- a drug that ive never heard of. Tried applying the abbreviation method and then another sata. So i said ok im doing okay. Lets get it rolling.. Then in the middle of my test i didnt see enough sata mostly questions referring a nurse at a nursing conference and what she should teach. Got pass 85 and thought im still in the ball game.. However i got to the max 205

Did the trick and cc page. Now im wondering is this career really for me? My husband said you dont lose anything but to try again.. But the frustration and energy and effort i put in for 4 months. Answering 100-150 questions a day. and still a fail.. Starting to think i should really look into another career.... Especially that ive been unemployed since end of january..

I am sooooo sorry to hear this. Sending hugs to you.. There are, as you know numerous stories here on AN where folks have taken the NCLEX a few times and they keep taking it until they pass. You can't give up. How have you been studying? Have you used any reviews?

don't lose hope, wanna share your study habits?

hope we can help.

I know there are many people out there in the same situation as me, but so much money has been invested.. Especially without a job.. And kids its tough..i really thought i had it, but i guess not..

As far as study habits, everyday/ morning when my kids are off to school i would answer 100 questions a day. 50 in the morning and 50 at night. In between would be content review from my hurst book learning the strategies and techniques they provide. When my kids are home I spend the time doing homework with them feeding them and when in bed i study again at night.

Books used are hurst review, exam cram 3rd ed question, nclex 3000 for sata questions. I also have the saunders but basically used it for questions cause i felt some questions were vague or repetitive.

When i took the exam yesterday, it was nothing compared to saunders or exam cram. Which i dont know where to begin again. Drug wise leaves me clueless cause some drus were unknown to me regardless i tried applying the abbreviations methods.

Any suggestions would help... Thanks!

I am unable to send you pm so u need to delete your messages.

AspiringRn- sorry! I saw it late last night so i deleted alot of messages.. Its free so go ahead and leave a message..

I took the NCLEX for the first time last week, and I encountered the same questions you had, first question SATA , then drugs , then this topic about nurses in conference etc., but I had 230 question before the computer shut down . I think I also failed because I tried the PVT trick and leads me to the CC page.

I do all the studying for months Kaplan, NCSBN , Nclex 4000 and all the tips and hints from this site. It seems I didn't study at all . My family knows I'm still waiting for the result since there is no quick result in California.

Ilovenursing - which state are you in? maybe we can study online.

Piper thread.. Were in the same boat.. The test i took yesterday was nothing compared to the one in 2011. Now its like i dont know where to begin.. Saw that saunders is coming out with a 5th ed revised for the new test. Dont know if its worth buyin. Invested so much money already..

Jenurse- im in california. Are you taking the nclex pn or rn? I really need a different route of studying... Im really losing hope..

Aspiringrn- cant pm u. Says its full..

I understand how you feel. I am using hurst right now for content. Figure if I can master that.. then I will be fine. I am taking all of Saunders questions. I know it's easier than than the boards, but I figure I can use it to review what I am learning. I would suggest maybe doing and live review and get a study partner (if you are that kind of person). Also doing application level questions as much as possible. My goal is completing atleast 5000 questions. I really dont want to take this exam again. Don't lose hope. Trust God and claim his promises future RN.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending you big hugs. I sooooooo know how you feel.Don't give up
