Hi everyone, I'm currently a freshman at CSUSB, and I'm enrolled as a pre-nursing major. I had a lot of stuff on my plate this quarter, and I ended up getting a "NC" grade in my Math 165 class. The requirements say that I have to have a C or above and my overall GPA is calculated with the first grade attempt. I'm just really worried I won't get accepted into the nursing program, even if I retake the course like I'm planning. Has anyone had a similar experience to this? My current overall GPA (without the math class) is a 3.4.

I have experience with college. Just take the class over, try not to take many classes. Focus on math, and get a great tutor.

Going from knowledge of a few times through college combined with some common sense.
If you have a 3.4 GPA, you should be fine. The side you don't hear about getting into college programs: Yeah, you messed up and failed a class, so did half the people actually in a lot of these programs. Don't stress yourself over only a limited amount of people being allowed in. Grades aren't everything, most programs, not just healthcare, come with interviews / essays.
They're more worried about people who are going to complete programs than they are on if you were able to pass some easy general education classes. An A student that can't pass the practical side of their nursing classes, risks the school losing their accreditation in that program. Absolute worst case situation, you should still have a non-nursing major (usually some kind of vague healthcare degree), get that degree, it gives you a ton of leverage into getting accepted later, because it proves that you will get through. Not getting accepted isn't the end of the world. It maybe just adds 1 year to your total school time.
Also, if your school has an LPN program, that's also a respectable option. It tends to take less people, but less people tend to apply. It'll add some school time on if your goal is something like a BSN or higher, but at least you can get started working.
