Failed Assessment test

Published

Hi all. I took the assessment test yesterday, and was notified today that I need poorly on the math portion so I would not be admitted based on that fact. I am so bummed!! I actually found quite a bit of the math pretty difficult, lots of fractions. I have to wait three months before applying again. :(

I'm sorry to hear you had problems with the admissions test. As I recall it wasn't the easiest exam I've ever done! I'm not really familiar with the resources available to help you brush up on math except I did use Khan academy online to help me with the math class I had to take as a prerequisite for my degree. It was free and really helped me figure stuff out. I've also read posts where people have talked about StraighterLine courses. I'm not exactly sure what they are about and if they will transfer in as credit to WGU courses but it might be something to look into. Best of luck to you!

I'm sorry. Are you planning on reapplying in three months?

I don't know what do to. I didn't realize that math was so heavily weighted in their program. I have never been a good math student. Really wanted to go there. Not sure what to do now.

I thought that the math was very difficult. I practiced with Khan academy (online) ahead of time. Now you basically know what type of math to practice for the next 3 months. So sorry.

Sorry about that, but now you have 3 months to study math and Khan Academy is awesome...Don't give up!

Try not to get down. The math required for nursing school for med calcs, even chem (gen) and stats, it really is pretty simply, and you can whip yourself into shape on it in no time. Get some good refresher books on pre-alg and alg, work through it, and you should be fine. Hang in there.
