Hi all,
Is there anyone out there who is currently in Excelsior's Nursing Informatics program? The program seems to be new. I just need some opinion for someone who's already in the program. I've been a nurse working in critical care for over a year now and was a software engineer before - worked in the IT for 6 yrs. Please advise. Thanks! :wink2:

I just finished my RN through Excelsior and will be continuing with their RN-MSN. I don't know much more than that.
I'm a systems refugee as well.

Greetings heywazzupdude,
I was once enrolled in Excelsior's NI program but dropped out to tour Europe:D

The program is not new. I dropped out of grad school .........at least 5 years ago.
By the way I whole heartidly recommend you see Spain, England, Greece, France and Italy at least once before you die.
But do get your education first.
The Excelsior instructors are excellent. Many of them are friends and colleages of mine. Several of them mentored me when I first entered this specialty some 10+ years ago. All are experienced practicing NI professionals and established Nursing Leaders.

Thanks for posting this, Angela. It's good info!
Thanks everyone for the input. I work in as nurse in CA and the CA BRN has issues with Excelsior's nursing programs. If I get a MSN nursing informatics degree from Excelsior College, will it be recognized by CA BON? I need some input for those who know. Thanks!
I am an Excelsior grad for the RN. The problems with CA have to do with initial RN licensure and clinicals. I would, however, certainly clarify whether they have problems with higher level EC education.

Is there any drawback to the Excelsior program not being CCNE accredited? I understood that CCNE was a "must" to have for nursing programs. I'm shopping for an MSN program myself, so am very interested in the response on this topic.
Thanks!
Christina, I know nothing about the CCNE. I do know that EC is accredited by Middle States and The National League for Nursing. In fact, they're an NLN Center of Excellence.

Has anyone attended or is going through Excelsior's MSN (Nursing Informatics) program?
If so, how do you like it so far?
I would like to hear your experiences. =)
