Excelsior LS1,2,3

I did LS 2 first because everyone was saying it was the most difficult at the time. So I wanted to get it out of the way. Then I did LS 3, and finally LS 1. They were all devastating for me even though I passed them on the first attempt. But I only studied for 2 weeks; 1 week for LS 3. The LS series are more difficult, so prepare thoroughly. Good luck!!

I went in order, but I did Transitions (which was Nursing Concepts 7 at the time) between what is now LS1 and LS2, and then did LS3. No real reason. :) I don't think any one of the LS series are necessarily more difficult than the other, but they just cover different topics; some people are strong in certain topics, others aren't. LS1, for example, has cardiac and respiratory -- a paramedic's bread and butter, so some paramedics may do very well on that one with little prep whereas others might have to study more. Some people have difficulty with LS2 because of the heavy psych component. All EC students are a little different and come from varying backgrounds, so what is difficult for some is easy for others. But I agree with Lynda -- the LS exams are more difficult than the earlier ones.

I wouldn't recommend doing what I did with ANY of the exams. I loved my education with EC but I have to admit, my entire education with them was one huge CLOSE CALL because I went so fast. I caused myself a lot of unnecessary stress by not taking my time. It all worked out for me by the Grace of God but had it taken an opposite effect.....well, I shutter to even think about it.

After doing LS 1 and 2, I am working on LS3 which will be my last academic class with EC before FCCA. I got A's on 1 and 2 (hope I'm not jinxing myself). I do it the old school way. I read and highlight the chapters, do both EC practice tests and take notes from them, note cards, Saunders RN NCLEX revies CD and book and Med Surg Success book.

I don't know how you guys do those classes so quick but more power to you. I kind of like to read the texts to get the meat of the subject, it all won't stick but I feel like it gives me a good background re the logic behind the topics. Then the note cards come with me every where. You can read one at a red light, on line at the store etc. I gave up on SG 101 long ago, I feel it is an inferior product. You might pass the class but it left me feeling like I had no good grasp of the subject. Maybe in conjunction with the text books it's ok.
