I just found out it is $355 PER credit hour. Are people just buying the books, studying then testing out, instead of taking the 8 or 15 week course??Please Help! Thanks

Better yet, CLEP your pre-reqs ($77 and your advisor will give you a list of what can be clep'ed) and for information literacy, contact Penn Foster for their course ($105 and can be done in a day). For the Nursing requirements you will have to take the Excelsior College Examination (ECE) which is $250 if they haven't gone up on that.

nursetaminator 145 Posts Jul 4, 2011 I haven't done any of the "courses" and wouldn't. I've bought a lot of my books off ebay, half.com, etc. You can find books anywhere pretty cheap. Do as many CLEP exams as you can. Info Lit through Penn Foster is the best. EC will tell you they can't confirm if the class matches their requirements but it does. You could even get the EC study guide and use your own books (if you saved any from school) instead of buying any.

The courses are for other degree programs (BSN, etc.). The only actual "course" EC requires as part of the ADN program is Information Literacy, which can be taken through Penn Foster for much less, as other students have said.
