EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) experience?

Published

I just discovered this will become a requirement in HH. Anyone have any experience training on it yet?

Heres a link that explains it in depth: https://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid/hcbs/guidance/electronic-visit-verification/index.html

Nobody has found it necessary, I suppose, to delve too deeply into the requirement. At least with some employers. It has been covered with the implementation of those little tablet charting gizmos that have GPS enabled and spend a great deal of time "syncing" with the mothership to keep tabs on the whereabouts of the nurses providing in home visits/shifts. Try charting on one of those monsters when the system is not functional. Ha! "Go back to paper charting until further notice," says the text on your phone and the email on your computer. Yes, good ol' paper and pen to get the job done. But paper and pen can produce visit/shift documentation from anywhere, including the nurse's kitchen table. Thus, the electronic verification. As the home clients say, "The tablets are only good to use as time clocks to keep track of the nurses". (Or physical therapists, or home health aides, etc.)

From what I’m reading in the Medicaid link above this isn’t optional. Or are we taking about the same thing here? It *could* be a device much like a phone but used in the clients home for any in-home services provided and even taken with client to services outside the home. It would require voice verification (not simply tablet or e-tracking devices)of client name, date, time in, time out, location, and who is providing care.

It looks like this will be mandatory by 2020. Again, I’m getting this from the link above and clients showing me their letters with similar info. ?

Our local hh employers are bringing the tablets on board and have said nothing about any other log in/out specific devices. Time will tell.

Same here. ??‍♂️

I am sure it is already being done by our tablets and that is why they havent said anything to us at my agency.
