EVIT LPN Program

Published

I am considering going into the EVIT LPN program for adults. I wanted to go to Gateway but it seems so sketchy (unorganized and info keeps changing) and I heard the wait was 1.5 years!

You need to have your CNA for the EVIT program first but the LPN program is starting soon. I just dont want to wait on the RN wait list for the next 2 years. I thought maybe getting my LPN would allow me to work while I wait to finish up my co-reqs and get into the associate RN program.

Has anyone had any experiences with this school? It seems a bit pricey but it is not so out of my budget. I just want to get some opinions because I have never heard anything about EVIT. Or if you just have an opinion on the route I am taking let me know. I appreciate your help! :bowingpur

Hi!

I actually called EVIT on Friday to get the lowdown on the program. They are a little pricey, but better than Apollo or Everest! They are sending me the admissions packet, which I should get tomorrow or Wednsday. She ran down the list kind of quickly as to what they require for acceptance. It is ALOT, but doable. I had a cousin that went to EVIT, not for nursing, and loved it. It is supposed to be a good school. And it is better than waiting 1.5 yrs for GAteway or driving out to MSC.

Can't wait to get the packet!

What is a "little pricey"??? Also, do they have both day and evening classes???

It is around 8,000 for the LPN program. I think it is only offered for adults at night. They provide education for high school students so I think that is why they do not offer day classes.

chihmom8,

Do you already have your CNA? I think I am going to try to get into the CNA class for January. They are more than RSAA but the guy I talked to said they give more hours of education. So maybe that is better?

No, I am scheduled with RSAA to start the evening program 1/19. The lady I spoke with at EVIT gave me the info for their CNA program, as I asked her if they would accept me taking the course at RSAA. EVIT was more expensive ($1100), but was only 3 days a wk. However, I have already put down the deposit for RSAA and if I pull out I will lose $200. So, I am just going to stick with RSAA for now.

Now, I just have to figure out how to come up with the $$ for the LPN...:icon_roll.

EVIT is right in line with MSC as far as tuition goes.....I guess it's all about what side of the valley you live on. It' too far for me. MSC is much closer!

FYI....financial aid will NOT cover the entire program. You wil have some out of pocket expenses. I spoke to someone over there and she made that very clear to me. Even with the Pell. Seems a little odd, but that is what she said. Good news is, it's 3:30-6:30 M-F. Not bad. NET is required as well. Good luck to those that are interested in this option!

Did she indicate how much would not be covered by financial aid? I hadn't got that far yet. I have been lucky enough to be able to pay for all of my pre-req's and co-req's out of pocket, but for the LPN would need financial aid for sure.

I think she sais less than half. I still don't quite understand but she said, they are only 600 or so credit hours. It may be considered a part time program and that could be the reason why!

I wish it was a little later in the day so I could still work. I dont know how I am gonna make it all work. Someone I talked to there said that sometimes they change the hours of the program. Maybe I wont need to worry about it?! Well good luck.

I looked into them back in Sept, and they said that they only start the LPN program once a year, in August. Has it changed? Do they have a Jan start?
