Everyone LOVES ATI testing =)

Hello everyone =) I have to take the ATI mental health, Peds (nursing care of children), and adult medical-surgical. Anyone who has taken these have any advice? I took the practice tests but in the past the practice tests have always been so much harder than the real deal!

I've taken a few in past semesters so if anyone is interested in what worked for me here goes...

ATI PHARMACOLOGY- wow, I thought I would BOMB this because of all the negative stuff people said about it! I think what helped me the most is reviewing common endings and beginnings for drug names. IE: -pril is ace inhibitor, -lol is beta blocker... stuff like that. Honestly, there were so many drugs on there I had never seen before but breaking the name down helped me so much! Also, after reviewing the common endings and beginnings I reviewed what the type of drug does, why it is used, and side effects =)

ATI OB (don't know the actual full name!)- Practice quizzes helped a lot and looking up what I was weak on (I got this information from the assessment you get at the end of the practice quiz)

ATI FUNDAMENTALS- Practice test! I didn't study much for this one because we were told this would be "basic" stuff. Focus on safety first and what is the top priority!

ATI NUTRITION- Know your caloric intakes for adults, peds, infants, breastfeeding moms etc... and the types of nutrients in different kinds of foods! And, as always, do the practice tests =)

Anyway, please let me know what to focus on for MENTAL HEALTH, ADULT MEDICAL-SURGICAL, AND PEDS! & good luck to anyone having to take these tests!! :p

We are taking ours in the morning *sigh* but all I am doing is going over the sections in the book the content is on and hope I remember it all! :0

Good luck to you!

I did the OB ATI this morning, we weren't required to pass it :), we just had to show up. I didn't study :) and did well enough to know that when it comes to the NCLEX, my knowledge is enough :)

Yeah, we did the OB a couple of weeks ago and I scored 70% but needed 71.8% for a level 2! ugh!!! I am just tired and ready for a short break.

So, I am just gonna look over some ATI info on Peds, go through my Saunders one more time and pray for the best!

We have finals Friday so everyone keep us in your thoughts and prayers :)

I hope you did well on the Peds ATI and finals =)

I ended up getting level 2 on all 3 which I am so thrilled about! I felt like I was about to fail the medsurg one but suprisingly made the level 2 I needed to pass =)

:yeah:

My School uses ATI for every topic. The advice on how to study for Pharm is VERY sound and is how most people pass. Fundamentals focus on patient safety. OB, Peds and Med-Surg, focus on the bolded items in the ATI books. Also for Peds I am told that knowing the vaccination schedules and stages of Erickson's levels of development helps.

BTW for those of you complaining that you have to take these tests...At my school they count as 10% of your grade, you get two attempts to score a level 2 or higher and if you don't you must retake the entire course. So far I have been lucky enough to get a level 3 on all of them. I take Peds tommarow afternoon and then have only the exit exam left.

My school, you get 1 attempt to get a level 2 or higher or you fail the class! Ridiculous! I thought the peds practice tests were way easier than the actual test.
