Ever have one of those days.....

when you know ahead of time you're gonna have that "run over by a truck" feeling because of who you're going to work with? We have several docs in the ER that are ca-ca magnets, but one (I was lucky enough to draw him today and my last Saturday working) practically guarantees that road kill feeling. We are a rural hospital and pride ourselves on minimal waiting time in the WR. When this guy is on the average wait for non-urgents is 3-5 hours before they even get called back......frustrating when the wait is usually less than an hour. Average ER stay once in the back is 2-3 hours. With this guy it can stretch to all shift. Almost everyone who comes in gets labs and films and IV fluids, and most are kept for obs. What makes it even worse is the doc is a really nice guy but he knows we hate working with him.

Sorry, just had to vent. I don't usually come home with throbbing feet.

Yes- I know exactly how you feel. I work Med-Surge with a hospitalist that thinks he needs to change every thing he has previously ordered for the patient on every patient he is taking care of in the hospital!! Good luck

:nurse:nice that you vent out your emotions, lots of hospital workers have that experience specially working with difficult days....just work with confidence and stay happy...thats the secret..
