Hello, I'm kinda new to this board. I have been taking pre-req's for the past few years part time. It has been a slow process and I was accepted and currently in Holy Family's BSN program..but i just found out that they are getting rid of the level 300 nursing courses next year. I havent started any of my nursing courses yet, but am trying to look for an alternative to this school in the Philadelphia and surrounding area. I have been making calls the past 2 days to various places. My only options that I know of are Abington (but i'd have to wait til Aug 2010) and Montgomery County- but I'm not sure if they have the evening/weekend option.
I still need to take Eng 102 (pain in the butt- had to withdraw fall 08 because i went into pre-term labor). Chem, Psych 208, and Sociology.
Anyone on here know of any programs i'm missing?

Gwynedd Mercy has a 2 year weekend program (Sat/Sun) if you already have a bachelor's degree in any field. LaSalle University also has an evening/weekend program, but lots or prereqs IMO. You should look on the board and print out the NCLEX scores list for PA, this list contains all approved programs for nursing, and go from there. That's what I did. I too am looking for an evening/weekend program, I've applied to both Abington and Gwynedd-Mercy.
I think Abington may just be my only option- but I won't be able to start their program until Aug 2010! By that time, my sciences may be past the 5 year minimum they require..
i really dont understand why all programs don't offer nights and weekends- i cant afford to quit my job and go during the day.
You can try Gwynedd mercy, They are still accepting applications and you don;t have to have your prereqs completed because you can complete during the summer time.

How far are you willing to travel? I believe Widener's program has some e/w classes. Montgomery County Community College only has a day nursing program (I got all my prereqs from there before being accepted to Abington this fall). When I was researching nursing programs for evenings, I printed the NP list and went to the website for each program in my area. Unfortunately there are very few, but I'm sure you'll find one that will work for you!

Harcum college (in Bryn Mawr, just a few blocks from an R5 train station) has two programs. One is all evenings and 18 months. The other (STARS) is evening/EVERY weekend, but only one year. The 1 year program requires a bachelor's degree, I don't think the 18 month one does.
