Ethical dilemma

Published

After Googling about a company that a good friend recently took a job with, I found out that the medical director was convicted and arrested for medicare fraud years ago, can not administer narcotics legally, and the new company that he has "invented" (plastic surgery) is involved in questionable activity as well.

I love my gal pal, and I want to tell her about this, but I don't know if a.) I should or b.) I shouldn't and just let her discover this for herself.

On the other hand, she has put a lot of effort into getting her nursing license and if they are involved in questionable things, I want to spare her any heartache or trouble.

HELP.

What would you do in this situation?

Why wouldn't you just tell her ?

If you were in her shoes, how would you feel hearing this news? This might be a hard situation for her to believe at first; however, protecting her license that she has worked so hard for is the main priority of this situation. If she has this information made aware to her, it will be her decision about what action she will take next.

If it were my best friend, I'd tell her in a heartbeat.

I would want someone to tell me! I worked very hard for my RN. My career is the means to supporting myself and my children as well as being a source of pride. You should not let a friend remain blind to such a risk.

If she were my friend I would definitly tell her, and she was an aquaintance I would also tell her. Since you feel so much compassion for your friend, suggest some alternatives to her in terms of job availability. Suggest sites that she could visit or places that she could go to that are hiring. Also, tell her the good thing about this issue is that this information surfaced before her boss gets involved in even more 'illegal affairs.' I think she will be disappointed but grateful that you tell her. Do the right thing!
