Hello, I am a new grad nurse and I received two job offers. I am conflicted and need your help to choose. Although the ER and ICU is very different specialties, I feel like my personality falls right in the middle of both and have always said I wanted to work in either specialty. I'm being offered a position at Montefiore for ER, and a position at NYU Langone for the ICU. I am torn and don't know what to choose. Someone help me. What are the pros and cons of each facility, etc etc. I jus need help making my final decision. Thank you in advance.

Hello! Congratulations on the job offers!
While I can't speak to your original post question, may I message you in regard to your NYU application process?
Sorry that I can't provide assistance with your choice! But I hope you enjoy the unit you end up choosing :). Congrats again! Very exciting!!
P.S. If you haven't already, you may want to post in the reddit nursing forum as well to get more exposure!

Hello! I haven't worked at Montefiore but I have worked at NYU Langone, which is a beautiful facility.
I know it's difficult to say where you'll be in five years - but if you can it's important to think about where you want to be. If you would like to get into CRNA, you definitely need ICU experience.
The ED I heard is an adrenal rush, but can get old quick. While in both the ED and ICU you see a multitude of different patients, you also will be able to learn more as an ICU Nurse.
The ED is somewhat of a revolving door and in the ICU most places believe in continuity of care so you'll have the same patients and families most days in a row.
Hope this helps!

Hi! I am also wanting to work for NYU. I applied to the Fall residency program along with a bunch of positions around jan 20 but have yet to hear back! What was your timeline like to get an interview? Do you happen to have the recruiters contact info you can share with me?

Thank you so much for responding. It definitely helps with narrowing down what I want to do.

Hi Pam. So I actually did my ABSN program at NYU College of Nursing so they sent out the application since October of last year which was my last semester of nursing school. So I did the application and the recruiter said to get back to her after I had successfully completed the semester, which is what I did. After pinning ceremony December 15, I interviewed a week later and was offered the position.

My friend works at nyu gave the manager my resume and told me HR will set up an interview but they havent even reached out to me.

Yea I can understanding how that may be frustrating. I did reach out the a recruiter on LinkedIn, -----------------------. She was the one that helped me set up the interview so maybe you can try her if you haven't already
