What's a CNP?

I am a new FNP -almost 1 yr working, I use my epocrates almost everyday, as a student I would encourage you to get the whole epocrates pacakge-Is your pt on 2x max dose of his bp meds? Say an alk phos comes back elevated:you want to know what this means, what the next step is etc...it's in here, or u can't remember a pedi rash- my epocrates on Iphone has color pix. It helped me shine as a student and now I can't live without it. not sure where to find discounts unless you are a member of a natl nursing organization, and don't they give student discounts?

If you want to save the cash, you might strongly consider Medscape mobile for Blackberry. No cost and I find it to be somewhat more clinician friendly than Epoc. If you are not required to have Epoc, then save your money, download Medscape and don't look back. I've used both, same pictures, med has videos, explains procedures, same drug database, clinical lists appear very similar.

Be careful with Epocrates and your blackberry. I have had epocrates as an nP student for the past 2 years and used it as an RN for another 1 year prior to that. Epocrates is a very large app and it never shuts down. So what happens is it drains your battery. The app is also so large, and it only lets you save a portion of it to your memory card. I had it on 3 BB curves and it burned them out. So I upgraded to a Tour. I am on my 4th tour now. It still doesn't work correctly because of Epocrates. I am being forced to get rid of BB as Verizon will no longer replace because my problems are from Epoc.

Which BB do you have?

You may want to look around for another app. I downloaded the monthly prescribing newsletter for free from BB app world and am canceling Epoc. I am sick of the problems it causes.

I too had problems with Blackberrys and programs. I got an SD card and loaded the program to that. I've also talked to others and they say to clear your messages.

OP: I just got a free trial to essentials, I'll post back after using it. Im not sure how I got it. I've had the free epocrates for awhile, so I guess they just want me to buy something:).
