Epic Interview Tips Please!!

Published

Help please!! I have an upcoming interview for an Epic OpTime Analyst position. Being an OR nurse who has used OpTime in the clinical setting, I have the clinical side of the interview covered. Can anybody help me with the technical side of Epic Build Analyst position? What kind of questions should I anticipate concerning interfaces? No programming experience, yet; I am no stranger to IT. I worked at Lexis/Nexis for 5 years assisting customers to navigate prior to becoming an RN. Any help from the technical point of view or any other general interviewing tips would be so appreciated. less

Hey there...

I'm probably the best person to answer this question... considering I just interviewed and accepted a position at Sentara Healthcare in Virginia for Optime Clinical Analyst.

Most of the questions I received during my interview process was in the area of how well I work independently without direct supervision. Not a whole lot of technical type questions, because they honestly love have more clinical savvy people implementing and maintaining epic. Couple examples I used was my charge nurse background (which they loved) and my completion of on-line BSN degree (again they loved).

If you can think of anything that a task was given to you with a distance completion date. Give example how you prioritize you time appropriately and how well of a job you did.

I just left the field of travel nursing, hence the username, so I had tons of experience in different "workflows" (key word). Had experience in all of peri-op (pre, intra, and post) (key words). Also any type of super user experience in any type of programs would help your case!

Any plans to further you education within the informatics realm would be helpful, also if you could get the ball rolling a bit by calling or even applying to a couple of schools. Drexel University deadline for admission for their Health Informatics program is Feb. (something to think about)

Also a good tip would be to study up on EHR in general, where the future is heading and how it applies or may apply to the hospital systems in which your applying too!

And one last thing, make sure they have some kind of plan for future certification program with Epic. Once, certified, the opportunities along with high education are endless!!

Good luck... PM if you need anything else!
