entering core nursing classes!!

Hi guys,

So, I am VERY excited about starting my nursing classes in a couple of weeks. I wanted to see if you guys have any advice for me regarding clinicals and everything else about entering NURSING.

Go through the forum- there's a TON of great advice!

Congratulations and good luck!

Be on time for class and clinicals. Nursing school is a little like bootcamp and you are being judged surreptitiously on how serious you take it. Being consistently late is not good. And don't procrastinate on assignments, which you will have plenty of in first semester after your clinicals. We had clinical analysis papers due after every clinical first semester. Now we only have to do them after we have to do meds, and we have to do an APA paper after every specialty clinical like wound care or free clinic. If you stay on top of your assignments and studying you will do fine. Good luck!

Buy a calendar and put everything in it. I use an electronic one and a physical one that I hand write everything in. Its very useful when you have a ton of deadlines to meet and need to whip it out to add yet another task. Oh, and you will be overwhelmed so figure out your stress reliever now so you can have it handy when the time comes...and it will come. And, try to stay on top of things and don't let stuff pile up. That is all.

Good luck in your program.

Be organized and on top of all your assignments! For clinical others have given great advice! Also volunteer yourself when asked "who wants to do this?" It's always a great opportunity for experience.

Seems like only yesterday...it's an exciting time for you! Enjoy it, it really does fly by!
