Ending NCLEX with a basic level question....can you still pass?

I AM POSITIVE I FAILED...So I took my NCLEX this morning. Although I passed the HESI the first time I'm told that is not actually a good indicator. I got 88 questions on the NCLEX and my last questions seemed fairly straight forward and easy...it was 4 cardiac strips and asked me to identify the strip with Atrial Fibrillation. Most NCLEX information will tell you that difficult questions generally indicate you are doing well...and basic level questions will indicate that you have not transitioned into a higher level of difficulty. Has anyone ended on straightforward questions like cardiac strips and still passed??? Or am I completely misled about the testing method???

I don't think there really is any way to guess what is a hard question and what is an easy one. Personally I think EKG strip questions would be hard and I was glad I didn't get any. Other than getting 75 questions , which imvho I do believe is normally a great sign, there really isn't any way to know until you get your results. I have known people that have passed with all different numbers including 265! Hang in there and please keep us posted.

i guess the feeling varies with people. usually in most cases the more difficult the questions are, it's an indicator that you are passing. but in my case i thought the whole test was pretty basic, especially the last few questions. i walked out of the test pretty confident, but as the days passed i started doubting myself and i was pretty sure that i failed. i was devastated until i got the results today. it turns out that i passed at 75!

good luck!

Hi I recently took the NCLEX on June 7th in NC, my test stopped at 75 questions!! I also ended with 2 basic questions!! However, I passed!!! Of all 75 questions, about 70 were extremely hard, and only 3-4 I felt like were easy or that I really knew them. I was convinced, for two days while waiting that I also failed. But to my surprise, I passed. All of my classmates felt the same way, and so far everyone has passed!!! Good Luck to you, I'll bet you did a awesome job, keep your head up and hang in there!!!

Raerae08,

Thanks for the story about your experience because I did feel the content and was basic so as I was going I felt discouraged because I was thinking that my questions should get harder if I was doing well...but it is nice to know that this is not always the case. However, I did have to take 88 questions.....

NCNurse08,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I think most of my anxiety and concern about passing is not the fact that I would have to take the test again but that I already have a job and don't want to dissappoint my hiring manager....who can re-evaluate my employment status based on whether or not I pass. As if taking the NCLEX weren't stressful in itself. My husband and I are relocating 1600 miles for this job on July 7th....it seems like the stress just keeps coming (finals, graduation, state board applications, job seeking, studying, taking the NCLEX, moving....) WHEN will it end???
