Encouragement.

Hello all,

My name is Jerry. I'm actually not a nurse, I'm a police officer. In a way, I'm here for me and in a way, I'm here for my wife. She graduated from her RN program last December. She got a job at an ltc/rehab center close to our home. We've been quite lucky. The ltc pays pretty well and she enjoys most of the work. Her coworkers are the hardest part of the job. They are all very negative, but she doesn't let it get to her much. She also continues to look for employement in a hospital and she will find it eventually.

Let me give you some of her background; She has her bachelor's degree from UC Irvine in Psychology, her associate's in Registered Nursing, 3 associate's in math and science and has now started her MSN at the local State University. She has an incredible work history with a major bank prior to nursing and a fantastic background and personality.

She has only interviewed for 2 hospitals. Both were rejections.

Essentially, I guess I'm just posting to say to all the people out there who are struggling to find a job...it'll be okay. Please don't close your mind to working in a completely different job field to pay the bills for awhile. If my wife hadn't worked at a bank that only paid 17 bucks an hour, we would have not have paid the bills. Don't get discouraged because there will be an opening for you somewhere eventually. And remember, it's also WHO you know. NETWORK,NETWORK,NETWORK! This is how you will get your interviews. I'm not saying networking will get you a job, but it'll help.

That's it I guess. Hang in there. There's a larger aging population everyday and the nursing population that was due to retire YEARS ago can only put off retirement for so long.

lol - I know where you're coming from.

I bet your wife appreciates such a supportive spouse too.

I'm sorry she's having such a rough time with the job hunt. It's been nuts in California. Wish I had some leads for you.
