Elder Abuse

I would like to know your prior knowledge about elder abuse before your were given any information(oral presentation) or written about the subject.

Any info would be helpful.

If you watch the news and read magazines such as Time and Newsweek then it would be impossible to not be aware of elder abuse.

Elder abuse is a growing problem. I do think it is interesting that some nurses, because they have no formal orientation into this subject, think they are safe when an investigation is in progress. Ignorance is not an excuse, we must try and place ourselves in the position of the person who is being abused and if we feel abused then usually we are abused. Lack of proper care, undermedication, over medication, restraints, and safety issues are just the tip of the iceberg in todays arena of elder care.
