El Centro Spring 2018 Nursing Program Hopefules

Hello Nursing hopefules!

I will be applying for the El Centro Nursing Progam for spring 2018. I wanted to know if anyone else is working on their applications and how far along. Here to provide and receive support and help. I currently have 26 points without the HESI. I was only missing 3 points from the RN-BSN courses. I have taken the HESI 2 times before and there would always be one subject (grammar) that held me back from submitting my application. I did not take the HESI seriously and never studied for the test. This time is different. I have been studying my head off for 2 weeks now. Taking the HESI for the third and final time Feb 11. Hopefully I get to meet some future el Centro students here and start our journey together!

Microbiology for non science major, AP2, developmental psychology, and elective. Double check if your elective qualifies. I took art appreciation and it counts as an elective and a rn-bsn course.

It is Humnities, art aprecciation not in that category. I mean you can get 1 extra point for it ( additional course) but it is not the one of the 4 support courses.

booklet page 18, compare #8 and #9

Art appreciation (ARTS 1301) Is qualified as a humanities elective for the support course. It is on page 12.

"** Humanities elective must be chosen from the Humanity, Creativity and Aesthetic Experience section of thegeneral Associate Degree of Arts/Sciences degree plan. See the current El Centro College catalog for a fulllist of accepted courses. Suggested courses include: ARTS 1301, DANC 2303, DRAM 1310, HUMA1315, MUSI 1306, PHIL 1301, PHIL 1304, selected ENGL literature courses at the 2000 level or higher, sophomore level foreign languages such as SPAN 2311. "

I would double check with nursing department according to the core standards Humanities belong to Language, Philosophy and Culture, while ART 1301 belongs to Creative Arts core. Also I know one person who did not get extra point for Dance 2303. But may be they changed the rules.

Sorry so late.. I took my hesi few weeks ago and scored a 91%. It was alot easier than I had anticipated. Thank you for the advice..Lvn-Rn here I come.

How did you study? What would you say helped you the most?

Hi I just graduated from Concorde lvn program and I'm newly employed with Parkland looking to start the lvn-rn bridge program at elcentro. I took the SCIT 1407/1408 before 2015 wondering if they'll still accept it or if I have to retake it. Got 90+ on all sections of hesi just need to take psyc life span and some more bsn courses hopeful they'll take my SCIT 🤞🏽

I just read the packet and it says they do take scit if you took before fall of 2015. Although, it is still subject to the 5 year limit. Wow you graduated from Concorde and got a job at parkland??? What position did you get? I was gonna take that route (LVN at Concorde then LVN-RN at rlcentro) but it was wayyyyy too much money for me, even after financial aid.

I only studied the HESI review book and took practice tests online. Bad idea on my behalf. You will need to study a ton more for anatomy portion . Use all the sources you can. Math and reading were easy for me.

yes I took them in 2014/2015 so they won't expire before the program starts. And yes a lot of people are skeptical about Concorde but it really is a great school it's fast paced and rigorous but you really get to learn and have clinical rotations and prepare you for nclex I cut off at minimum questions and so did most of my classmates (: Parkland and JPS higher LVNs they're county teaching hospitals

I just studied right out of the hesi book..I got alot of advice from previous post regarding the hesi and how to study for it. I also graduated from Concorde in 2013..I am very grateful for receiving my LVN but I am so ready for more autonomy and money.Ijs
