Education for CNA

Specializes in ED tech on a resp. therapist adventure.

Hello all, I am a CNA in my first job in the healthcare industry. I am very fortunate to be working in the ER, I am living my dream!!

I need advice on becoming more familiar with the "tools of the trade" as well as the procedures used in the ER. I want to be as helpful as possible and sometimes I am not very helpful b/c I do not know common medication names, types of suture materials, etc. Any advice regarding books to read, etc?? Thanks!

Nancy, I am a CNA also. Congrats on your new job! Would it be appropriate in your state to take the ACLS training? I would think this would be really helpful in ER. God Bless!
