ED Internships

Published

I'm looking to relocate- I passed my boards in June and have been working in an ICU since- I'm not happy in the ICU! I miss the adrenaline rush that I got when I worked in the ED as a tech while I was going through college, and I find myself hoping I'll be floated out to the ED as I'm driving in to work each night!

Any ideas of any really great ED internships for new RNs? I'm BLS certified and am sitting for my ACLS in September, as well as have the opportunity to sit for my TNCC in October. I'm looking to relocate about mid-end of October.

I'd really like to stay in the PA, MD, OH, KY, VA, WV, TN area- not much farther in any direction than that! hahaha I've been speaking with Univ. of Kentucky Med. Center but they aren't starting their new program until closer to Feb. '06, and I'd like to begin before that!

Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

Good luck in your endeavors! You mentioned living in MD (depending on where you live-you can commute) DC has a few hospitals that offer ED internships. Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown, and I think George Washington has one. Also in Northern Virginina- Inova Fairfax Hospital.

There are quite a few in Baltimore and the surrounding metro area. There are a ton of hospitals around here.
