EC RN to BSN

Published

Hi,

Does EC BSN programs, RN to BSN offer test out options for a degree or do they require online courses?

Thanks

I'm considering this as an affordable option for my BSN after I finish the ASN -- it's a blended program and has both test-out and online classes. You can contact Excelsior directly about this as well as College Network (if you haven't been scared by all the negative posts) bc they offer study modules for some of the nursing courses as well as the pre reqs -- i'm a student with tcn now and talked to the rep about this when we discussed the ASN. Ps. I'm enjoying tcn's program, but you can expect about ten people to jump on this thread and bash them at any second :)

I have 3 more weeks left to finish my last class! What questions do you have?:yeah:

Melody, Congratulations!

(Yes, I'm jealous, I have 3 classes left). How did you do the Research? I'm debating if I should take a class or a test?

JDavis2009 - Please, stop pushing College Network. They might be helpful getting your ADN (which is still very questionable, imho), but they won't help you with BSN. You will HAVE TO buy the required textbooks in order to pass the classes. All teachers and advisers I had are very helpful. Why pay somebody else on top of that is beyond my understanding.

How have classes been for both of you that are so close to finishing? Can you take classes concurrently? Which classes are you able to test out for?

I test out for Management and Community-Focused Nursing. Plus, I had some gen. Eds to do, so I took tests for Statistics and Pathophysiology. Now I'm taking English class.

I took Prof. Socialization together with HA. Well, if I had to do it over again, I would definitely take HA separately. There is so much to learn, the book is awesome, and the video assignment.. well, challenging. Was fun, though.

I'm not sure what to do with Research. I'd love to save time and money by taking the test, but taking the class sounds so much easier, LOL.

How long has it taken you to complete all of these courses? What course does HA stand for sry? How were the Statistics and Patho test? o.o

I'm sorry if my honest opinion of the program I'm in seems like "pushing"... but, i think i'm entitled to talk about the great experience i'm having especially since a lot of people are so eager to bash it. i take it personally when someone says that using tcn is idiotic or stupid... maybe i shouldn't but it seems to be the equivalant of calling ME and idiot. I guess I can try to tone down my enthusiasm in the future

The BSN program has a mixed approach, some are courses and some are tests with most of them its your choice as to which you'll take. Call EC for a RN-BSN program packet it will have everything in it. How much it costs, what classes are to be taken with which ones you have a choice to do by exam or couse work and a nusing program booklet.

I am an EC ASN student with the goal of the RN-MSN bridge program offered by EC.

I hoped this helped. :)

Good Luck with getting your BSN.

Do anyone know how many credits are required to be taken here at EC because I am an ASN and have some Bsn credits but didn't finish (long story) i cant find info on their web site

sshcnurse - I'd just call EC on Monday morning. They were always very helpful with all the questions I had for them. They might have to look at your transcripts before they can tell anything specific. Good luck!

And no, you do not have to have any middle-man like tcn :))

Melody RN and happydrunkcat, how long did it take for you to get to completion? I still havent setled on what program to choose. I got my AAS from Excelsior.
