DWI Texas

Hi,

I received a DWI in 2020. I live in Texas. I will be going to court in January. Has anyone been through this? I am fearful of losing my job and my license. I am very respected in my local community and hold many different titles at the hospital as well. I have had several people right me character letters for the courts and the board. I have to renew my license in December and it looks like I have to self report now even though I have not been convicted yet only charged. Any advice??

thank you.

Not in Texas but I always recommend getting an attorney- a nursing attorney! They can make all the difference in what happens. Best of luck and big hugs!

Thank you. I have a local attorney that handles DWI’s. He is not a nursing attorney though. Do I need two lawyers?

While we can't provide legal advice and tell you whether or not you need multiple attorneys, there are attorneys out there that are very familiar with nursing licensure. The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (https://taana.org) are both lawyers and nurses, and will be familiar with the process.

What ended up happening in your case ?

any update as far as license renewal?
