DUI in Illinois

Hello all

i made a HUGE mistake and drove after a couple drinks back in November. I was pulled over and blew a 0.11. It was my first (and LAST) offense. The court part is over. I got 6 months probation. I was informed that self reporting is much better than having the board find out on their own, so that is what I did. I’m currently just waiting to hear back from them. I’ve turned in my original statement, and my court docs. I’m an LPN right now, and just about finished with the RN portion of school. I’m a nervous wreck that my license is going to be taken away from me, maybe even forever! Hopefully I’m overreacting. Does anyone have any experience with the Illinois board with a dui offense?
PLEASE don’t lecture me of the dangers of drinking and driving. I have never felt more remorse for anything in my entire life. I live with the guilt daily.

Are you still working and going to school? If so, your probation may be over before you graduate. In my state, a first DUI gets a pass as long as the probation is completed,

Yes I’m still working and going to school. My probation is supposed to be up in July and I graduate in May. I’m really hoping the BON doesn’t do anything. I still haven’t heard anything back from them. I don’t know how long it takes them, but I’m hoping this is a good sign.

Any update? I hope everything works out for you!

Hi! Yes I just found out a couple days ago that my case was closed. No reprimand or anything on my license. Sooooo thankful!

Did you report your DUI to the board before your court date? Did you have a DUI or lawyer for Professionals? I'm in McHenry county facing this now, DUI 2 wweks and currently decided to immediately go to 30 inpatient rehab for first time ever.

Hi!  I did self report before my final conviction.  I had a lawyer but not one for professionals.
If it’s your first one you won’t be required to do inpatient rehab.  But of course if you feel you need that, by all means do it!

Hello! I am in a similar situation as we’re and was wondering if you could offer any insight or advice. I was arrested for a DWI over two years ago in Missouri, and as you likely felt, it was one of the worst nights of my life. I was over the legal limit and I regret it everyday, however I was very respectful and followed up with everything from a lawyer to making sure I didn’t get convicted. I am currently about a year and a half into my probation and just finished my community service. I am so nervous about applying to the BON in MO when the time comes(my probation will be up just before I graduate, however I will be applying for license next fall…which requires fingerprints). I was wondering what your process of contacting the BON was like because I would like to get a head start on filing for a license so that I can graduate on time. I’ve read everywhere that I should upfront and honest, but I’m curious how your process went. Thanks for any insight!
