I had these down pretty well ... the break came by and I totally forgot!!! (sorta)
I should have practiced some over the break ... every clinical we get a quiz at the start of the semester ... we get 2 chances to pass.
I have some questions. I have worked out my problems
The doctor has ordered Mandol 1000mg in D5W 100ml infuse over 30minutes. The drop factor for the tubing is 20. How many gtts/min will be infused? ( Set up the problem) 100/30 mL = 3.33 X 20 = 67gtts/min (they tell us to round to the nearest whole #)
1. The medication order is to give 500mg of Amoxil po. How much will the nurse administer? Medication Box says 250 mg/ 5 mL
500mg/250mg X 5mL = 10 mL
The nurse will administer 10 mL
Total Parenteral Nutrition(TPN) 1000 ml to infuse over 24 hours.
How many ml/hr willinfuse?
1,000 mL / 24
= 41.6 mL/hr
(they didnt specify what rounding they wanted)
these are all the practice questions I have... It seems almost too easy... I'm scared Dx especially the drop rate

Volume (mL) x Drop Factor (gtts/mL) = Y (Flow Rate in gtts/min)
Time (min)
100ml x 20gtts/ml = (66.6) 67 gtts/min
30 min
See you are beginning to get it!
Thank you! Got a 100. Ready to start my second round of clinical now!
congrats!!!!

Quite a few things they've given you here are extraneous.
If you need to give 30 cc in 30 min, how many cc do you give in an hour?
