Does this seem wrong?

I applied for a postition at a local hospital that was titled "New Grad/ Advanced Care RN". I thought I found a great opportunity. The next day I got an e-mail from human resources that said they were only accepting new grads who had completed clinicals on this unit. There are only 2 nursing schools in the area that have clinicals at this hospital. Of course I did not attend one of them. I just feel like they must have had a certain person in mind and shoul have just put their name in the posting. Has anyone else seen anything like this in their job seach?

Its not uncommon for schools to have a preference for students that did clinicals there. I'd doubt they had a person in mind or they probably wouldn't have posted it at all. This just wasn't the one for you but your new grad nursing job is out there so keep a positive attitude.

The posting was probably just a "formality" and they have an internal candidate. Not at all uncommon for hospitals, however unfair it may seem. I agree, your job is out there. Everything happens for a reason and this one just wasn't meant to be. Keep your chin up and your eyes and ears open, your opportunity will come! :)
