Hey everyone! I am in my first semester of nursing school and so far am enjoying it. . .however, I keep envisioning myself working outside of the hospital environment. I am 24 and dream of traveling and trying new things before I settle down, etc. I've kept my ears peeled for information regarding traveling nursing, but thought I'd ask here to see if a job that I envision even exists. Have any of you heard of a job where you get to fly out to different cities around the US/world/wherever and do some sort of medical care? Like health screenings at large corporations or something? I would love to be able to 'travel' (but not necessarily in the traveling nurse/assignment-type way) and feel like there is some way I could do this. Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance! :)

I have some friends who do medical escort. They escort patients on comercial flights all over America and Europe. Job requires lots of ICU type experience. Also cruise ships hire nurses. They want critical care experience as well.
Most travel nuring jobs are for hospital work.

I did this before, I did "health screenings" before I was a nurse, nurses did them too. A company paid your travel and lodging, you showed up at companies and did health screenings like bp, cholesterol, glucose. Pay was not extraordinary for nurses, but it was a neat gig. However, when the economy started tanking there were less and less opportunities, and preference always went to local nurses so they didn't have to pay for plane tickets and hotels.
