Hi! I'm a permanent resident of New York. Do I need to be licensed in the Philippines before applying for CVS? Thanks!

If CVS requires local license it will state so on the website (NYBON)

New York BON does not require you to be NLE passer for licensure. You can check this on their site. You may be required by CGFNS for the CVS but you can just tell them that you did not take the board exam. They will issue your report without the NLE to NY BON and will have to determine if you are eligible. CGFNS will just compile your credentials, make sure that they are authentic and forward it to NY BON. They may require you through VisaScreen but you do not need visascreen since you are a permanent resident.
To be licensed as a registered professional nurse in New York State you must:
It is not stated that you have to be licensed in the country where you took your nursing education. As long as you meet all these things then you will granted RN license in NY.
Good luck
Thanks kit25 for the info....:)

Hi everybody. I was searching for this kind of threads.. because I am a u.s citizen just graduated this year and was not able to take my NLE due to citizenship status (they require me to obtain a voter's i.d back then but our COMELEC who issued them is down nationwide)
I would like to ask what happened to your situation?
were you able to obtain your license in NY without NLE?
looking forward to your reply :)
