Hi there!
Just wondering if anyone manages to work full time and go to nursing school. I am fortunate right now to work at home (medical transcription) for 40 hrs/wk with a flexible schedule and do not have to spend time commuting, so I'm trying to figure out if going to nursing school as well as keeping my 40 hrs/wk job is possible. Or is part time a more viable option?
So... does anyone work full time and go to nursing school? How do you do it? IS it doable?
Thanks!

I'm close to full-time. I work around 35 hours a week these days and my schedule is also flexible (it was less, but things have picked up). School consumes about 20 hours per week after class, clinical, and lab/study time. I've had my moments where I thought I was going to breakdown, but made it through. You should have no problem managing.
Boog's girl, thanks for your input.
I think personal factors play a big part on someone's ability to handle nursing school and a full time job. I am single with no kids except for a cat (!) so I think this would make it easier. :)

yes, I graduate in 3 weeks and I worked a full time job and a part time job throughout the entire program, am a single mom, so I also have all the household duties and running my daughter to and from her activities and I have made mostly A's with an occasional B thrown in.
Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot work in nursing school, you can, many people do

I'm in that exact boat, transcription and all! I dropped down to 32 hours a week, so that helped A LOT! You can definitely do it .

Hi everyone! I will be applying to NS this summer. There is a long wait time in AZ unfortunately so its gonna be torture waiting. I too must remain employed full time during school. For those of you who are in medical transcription, how did you go about getting into it? Schooling on your own, employer provided schooling, etc?? I have been thinking about doing this for quite awhile as a supplement to NS. Having a flexible schedule will provide me more options of programs to apply to. Thanks in advance for any help!!
