Hi all,
I am from Frankston, on the Mornington Peninsula in South East Victoria, Australia.
Does anyone know of a course here that teaches about nursing in a 3rd world country? My husband & I and our 2 daughters are considering moving to India in a year or so & I think that I need to do something like this to feel prepared/confident to work over there.
Thanks, in advance, for any info that you all might have...

I would imagine you would need some primary health, public health and tropical medicine courses, but I have never heard of a "course." They do offer tropical medicine studies though. India has no shortage of nurses and they use volunteers. Most places are happy to let you learn as you go. Check with some volunteer agencies.
Thanks for your reply.
I lived in India for many years and my husband & I are contemplating going back to work at the international school I went to. They emply many nurses there...so it would not be a volunteer position, but I may be interested in doing some other volunteer nursing work over there.
I just thought I'd ask, as a fellow nurse at my work said she had heard of a course designed for people interested in nursing in a 3rd world country...but she couldnt remember the name of the course or who ran it!
I've contacted the nurses board in Vic, Aus...so they may be able to help, hopefully...
