Hello. I have applied to a DNP program. I have my MSN/FNP. I work full time as a nursing instructor and program chair. So that's regular work hours M-F. My concern with the DNP is finding time to fit in the residency / practicum with a M-F job. It's not like I work 3-4 long shifts a week, and can do my residency hours on the off day(s). I also don't really have a solid grasp on what the practicum should be. I would like to do it in the education setting if possible. Any advice on how to fit the residency in with work, and also examples of the projects DNPs have done in the past?
Thanks!

It totally depends on the specifics of your program. Your school should have objectives for the practicum which may or may not be applicable to an education setting. Some schools have a clinically focused practicum and would want to see evidence of higher level clinical skills. Some schools encourage paid positions for residency whereas others don't allow it. It would be near impossible for an outsider to offer advice without knowing the standards your program expects. Also, your school probably has a set of completed projects available either online or on campus. It may just be the abstracts or there many be entire projects available. This is helpful because different programs have very different standards for projects and there is not a consistent standard like there is for dissertations.
