I'm trying to return to work after taking 7 months off for my mental health. I've submitted my application for licensure by endorsement in Illinois and been applying for the past month (in the middle of finalizing moving plans). But have yet to be offered an interview. I figured with Summer coming, there would be more openings available, especially with the class of Spring '20 graduating. I worked in a Women's Health (gyn/onc and postpartum) unit before so have been applying mostly for Med/Surg and some Mother/Baby positions. I'm starting to lose hope in returning to bedside..any advice or suggestions?
*Strongly prefer not working in Long term care

Some places may not want to interview you if you have an out of state address, or even out of area. If they already have lots of applicants they may figure why interview sometime who isn't here yet and who may not come? Also might be there case with the license. When I applied for an IL license years ago I could still work on my Texas license for a period of time but I don't know if that's still the case.
That could be the case. Actually managed to get in touch with HR from one of the places I applied and said not being licensed in IL isn't preferable as a candidate, which I understand. I think there might be more wiggle room if you're a new grad who needs to take the NCLEX before getting licensed since there's more guarantee you might come? Unfortunately my license is in Iowa which is a compact, so I can't practice under that with IL being a non compact state. I see that you specialize in Women and Children's services as well as management. Do you think I could have an increased chance by having a temporary permit? I paid for one while I'm waiting to have a permanent license
**June 1 Update**: so I received my IL license on 5/26 and applied for all types of units including Mother/Baby. The farthest I've gotten with applications is being in review, with no offers of an interview ? I don't know what else I can do to my resume and cover letters to help get a beside job
