How do you stay positive? I have been waiting for 9 months to get into a nursing program. I know people wait much longer than me. What is the trick? I'm starting to get discouraged about ever getting into a nursing program.

I waited a year and a half, you just have to know you're going to be waiting and adjust your expectations! There are things you can do to help yourself later on...become a CNA, review medical terminology and anatomy so they stay fresh, volunteer in a hospital. It'll start before you know it!

take any additional classes you may need to go on to your bsn at asu... when those are done, apply there. depending on your gpa, you may get in nursing school sooner through a university.
or, get your foot in the door at a hospital. become a cna, surgical tech, etc.

I took all the classes I could. I finished all pre req's for ASU, GCU, CAC and NAU. After being on the wait list for less than a year, my hard work paid off and I was accepted into the NAU concurrent program, but let me tell you, I busted my back to get there and I did all of the leg work, (searching and investigating every possible avenue of study) spoke with every adviser until the were sick of seeing me in their office. I applied to and sent transcripts to every school in AZ....in the end, when the NAU program was announced, I was ready. Be ready! Things are changing with all of the nursing programs, new avenues of study are opening up all the time. Stay informed and get into one of the hospitals as a volunteer or CNA, it's a great way to network!
