It is discouraging, but the nice thing is that you aren't just dumped by your employer. Working as a tech isn't like working as a nurse, but it's a job, right?
The hospital I just got an offer from does not hire GNs, which is an increasingly common practice from what I hear. With the advent of quick results from the NCLEX, there's no real reason not to wait until someone's "proven" themselves. So, I have the job if I pass. If not, I'm back to square one. I'd love to be in your shoes!
That said, I know it stinks anyway. Just learn what you can working as a tech, set out a study plan, and you'll be that much better prepared when you start. And you have allnurses rooting for you!

So, I took my NCLEX-RN on 10/17 and did not pass
I know lots of people don't pass the first time but I'm just really discouraged right now. I was so ready to get my RN and be able to get out there and start working...and now I have to be a tech until I pass.
I feel so stupid and I feel like I've let so many people down. I'm stressed b/c I had to take an $8 pay cut from GN to tech. And I can't test again for 90 days, stupid NM!!!
I'm trying to stay positive, it's just so hard...
Anyway, I'm just venting. Thanks to anyone who actually read this.
