Discouraged need advice

Published

I was a sophomore in college before deciding I wanted to become a nurse. I am now a junior and want to apply to nursing school but my gpa is too low. I had a bad first year at college due to some family matters and a party lifestyle and my gpa was a 1.7. Since then I have worked my butt off to raise my gpa and it is now a 2.7. I have already completed all of my prerequisites and am stuck on what to do next. I tried getting into a lpn program but failed the math section on the entrance exam. I am feeling very discouraged and I have no idea what steps to take to get into a nursing program. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello jones532,

Do you really want to become a nurse? :nurse: If so, do not give up! :woot: Freshen up on your math skills... you have free online access to Khan Academy tutorials.

Concentrate on the areas you need the most help. Once you feel more confident, go take that entrance test again!

Does your school do grade replacement? Like if you retake a class and earn an A, will it completely replace your D in your GPA average?

If so, I would do that for a couple of your first year classes to get your GPA at least a 3.0. Then, like Devon Rex said, brush up on those math skills.
