Direct Entry MSN Programs in California

Published

Hi, I am about to graduate from UCLA this June with a BA in Anthropology. I am planning on applying to a few direct-entry/entry-level MSN programs in the California Bay Area including SF State, UCSF, USF, and Samuel Merritt. My top choice is definitely UCSF's program with the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or the Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist. I have also heard many great things about USF's CNL program, yet I'm not sure becoming a clinical nurse leader is the way I want to go.

I have a reasonably competitive GPA, however I'm worried about my lack of experience. This fall I will be finishing up my prerequisites at a community college and also finishing my training to be a phlebotomist. I plan to apply to USF in Early 2016 and the rest of these schools in the fall of '16, in the meantime I will work as a phlebotomist and try to gain as much healthcare experience as possible.

As the application process is coming up, I would love some advice from current and previous applicants and students who applied to these schools, so I can get a better picture of the experience. Any advice would be much appreciated!
