Diffuse pain

Can anyone explain what "diffuse pain" is? I understand that it means that it shifts in location and intensity (so changing in quality?) but I'm having difficulty picturing it. Maybe someone here has experienced it and could put it into better words? Thank you :)

I understand it as having pain in a spread out large area. For example gallbladder pain can be diffuse abdominal pain. Not necessarily the right upper quadrant but all over the abdomen

That makes sense, in the context of the word "diffuse." Like the pain just spreads. Thanks.
