Destination ideas

Looking for ideas, fellow travelers.

My current contract ends in April, after a year of working at a NJ hospital, and 5 years of 'traveling' in NY/NJ (I met my wife in the area so I didn't get to travel elsewhere like I originally intended to.)

I'm going through a divorce so the time could not be more right to start actually traveling again.

The only thing I know for sure is I'm heading West starting from FL (towards California) then North all the way to Seattle.

What stops would you suggest along the way to work at, which ones to sight-see and move on? The only sure working stops I have so far are San Diego, L.A., SF, Portland, and Seattle, with maybe Austin added to the list ...but what about before I reach California? Again, I'll be driving from FL.

I'm Medsurg/Tele, btw, and I tend to like bigger cities.

Depends on what you like. Big city or small town. Outdoor life or clubbing. My favorites have been Reno (St. Marys) and Tulsa (St. Johns). I'm a small town person, so I enjoyed Cheyenne WY as well. I'm headed to Montana next. My kind of country.

Hex, I've heard Chandler Regional in Arizona is a great hospital to work in as a med-surg/tele nurse. Good ratios. Try Colorado as well.

Thanks, Paco. Phoenix and Denver are 2 places I'm curious about, and I've been to neither so it would be great.
