Specializes in ER.

Afternoon everyone,

So I am looking for advice, feedback, on working charge in your ER, working part-time faculty (hoping only 1 day a week) and also starting an MSN program. Albeit that will be one class at a time.... but...

I'm wondering if there's anyone else doing this, what is the schedule I am looking at to add on part time clinicals and starting an MSN program.

How did you find time to do all of this? I'm assuming you have a family and love your personal time too.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Is this feasible?

I work nights.

Thanks!

I worked in 3 different ERs (only one full-time, of course) while working on my MSN. I was also deployed during a class, too. I found it manageable. The key for me was to not allow myself to procrastinate!

Did you do clinical faculty, part time, as well? That's the other piece of my puzzle. Juggling all of the balls....

No, but working in three ERs took up a lot of my time as it was. Probably comparable. Plus I was in the Army and had a lot of collateral duties.

So decided not to do part time faculty, as my management team didn't seem too keen on taking on more tasks at this time. It's unfortunate, but I also figured they want me to be at their Beck and call, so I am not surprised they wouldn't want me to pursue future endeavors which are bettering myself and the facility , which is sad. This just gives me more data for how not to be in my future, should I be upper management.
