debating on doing ASN/BSN

I know this would be my decision in the end, but I'm really trying to weigh my cons and get some knowledge from some wise folks out there.

Currently , i'm a senior (will be 5th year senior) Psychology major student. I was going to take my prereqs for nursing with summer school (which will cost me $4.7 grand), and then come back for my last year of college to get my psych degree. This fall, I was going to apply for my school's BSN program. However, things have popped up lately. I was considering how much aid I'm using to pay for this degree that I don't need and will probably not use in the future as a nurse. An ASN program here will be much more safe since it's cheaper. If I did the Accelerated nursing program , I would have to graduate with my degree or get done with my pre-reqs. The only con to not getting my degree is not getting my degree, and that would be a waste of 4 years basically, but at least I'll save a couple of thousand dollars.

sigh decisions.

I might be reading your post wrong, but are you saying that you do not need to finish your degree and can apply to the accelerated nursing program? I believe you need to have a BS completed before you can apply to an ABSN program - at least all the ones that I have looked at anyway. I am kind of in the same situation, but I have a degree and am taking the prereqs for the ABSN. I am a little worried about not getting into the accelerated program so I am trying to figure out if it is worth applying to a few regular undergrad programs. But I will have to go through the associates and then the bachelors program. I am trying to figure out how long it will take a person who already has a degree to get through the regular nursing program since I already have the core classes like english and math etc. Sorry I really just babbled about my own situation and gave you no advice. :-/
