Dcfs in Illinois

Looking for honest feedback from anyone who has been through nursing school admissions, clinical clearance, or licensure with a background history.

I'm applying to an Associate-to-BSN pre-licensure nursing program. I have completed my prerequisites, including Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology. I've been accepted into the program.

My history includes:

Retail theft misdemeanor from 2012

Domestic battery misdemeanor from 2015

DCFS indicated finding for neglect from 2016

DCFS indicated finding for abuse (injury/mark on face) from 2024

I feel like the most recent dcfs indication will be my downfall. The other one was extenuating circumstances while my sons father was still around, as he was a drug addict. And I know older misdemeanors can be forgiven due to time and age. But im remorseful over the recent finding and I cant change it but I pray it doesnt impede me.

I know nobody can give legal advice, but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience getting into nursing school, completing clinicals, or obtaining licensure with a similar background.

My biggest questions are:

Did the nursing program allow you to continue?

Were you able to get clinical placements?

Did any clinical sites deny placement?

Were you able to obtain your nursing license after graduation?

Did you have to provide additional documentation or explanations?

I'm not looking for judgment—just real experiences from people who have been through the process. Thank you
