Dansko shoes

Published

After hearing so many wonderful things about Dansko shoes, I decided to take the plunge and buy a pair for school. I bought the white professional style. But I have a question about the way they fit. The sales girl talked me into buying a larger size, saying that they are not supposed to touch the back of your heel when you walk. To me, they seem too big and kind of flop when I walk. I am afraid they will strecth out and be unwearable. But I took her professional advice, and now am wondering if I should exchange them for smaller ones. So for those of you that have Danskos, how do yours fit, and did they stretch? I can't afford to end up with a pair of shoes this expensive that end up being uncomfortable or not fitting.

Thanks!

The heel is supposed to slide up and down (like a flip-flop). So they should not be snug on your foot.

I've had mine for six months and they don't stretch out a ton. Mine are beginning to a bit, but it's not affecting the way I wear them.

Thanks for the reminder...

I ordered a pair of Dansko (Marcelle I believe was the specific style...I went between that and the PITA) from a HUGE overpriced department store. My husband says to me "I didn't know we could afford to shop there". I told him "we can't afford it but they were the only ones willing to order this specific style in for me and they are the same price no matter where you go". Well guess what...I didn't realize that I never got them. I'm on the phone now, on hold, waiting to see what the heck is up.

So I don't own a pair...I'm trying to own a pair. I was told when buying them that the shoe is designed to have some movement in the back. I put the smaller size on and my foot just fit into it...he told me that I needed to go up a size. So that's what was ordered. If I knew what size it was I would order them online but I don't know what size it was he recommended because I figured they would get them in and that would be the end of it.

The store closes in 30 minutes...I'll be on hold for the next 30 minutes I'm sure.

Get yourself a refund.... I got the marcella (the ones like mary janes - right) through the life uniforms catalog for $59.00 3 weeks ago.. I love them.

And yes, I have had 4 leg surgeries - I only wear dansko for the last 3 years and they are supposed to flop in the back. HOWEVER they should not be really loose in the middle of your foot - the arch must fit right, or you will hurt your feet. What the saleslady reccomended is good - or go to the dansko website and look at the conversion chart from American sizes to Euro sizes and you should be fine...

Good luck!

That's them! Aren't they cute?!?!?! Well I eventually got a manager on the phone and was told they never ordered them and they are NOT available! I'm glad to hear you love them. I think I'm going to search online NOW and order them in case they aren't going to carry them anymore.

They are REALLY cute!

My other backups are the Courtney and Pita. Mariel is cute but it doesn't come in white and I have to have white. I actually wish I could get the Marcelle in the cordovan.

I need to order them. School starts back up soon and I want them here before I start.

Hopefully they didn't discontinue them....

I asked him to special order them and he was all gruff and said they aren't in stock so I repeated myself and he put me on hold and told me again they don't have them.

I'm going to call again and see if I get a more friendly person.

Are those shoes truly comfortable? I think they look rigid, hard as a rock, heavy, and unflexible - which is why I never even considered them. But it sounds like they're pretty popular...
