Cuesta College Nursing Program

Published

Has anyone recently been accepted to Cuesta College's nursing program in California? If so what was your GPA, TEAS score and accumlative points if you do not mind sharing. I am finishing up the last of my prereqs and I really want to be as competitive as possible.

I have applied but have not been accepted. My science GPA is 3.4, and my regular GPA is 3.9, my TEAS is 83. I have no repeats and I got points from need to work, speaking a second language and having health care experience. I placed 25 on the alternate list.

What I was told by the counselor was that you can only have one B in the sciences (I had two) and you have to score in the 90s on the TEAS. So, honestly, use anything you can to get points. Try to find a place where you can volunteer and if you don't speak a second language, take a class. It's very competitive, but I believe you get points for reapplying too.

Hi, I got in this year starting Fall 2019. I got an A in anatomy, physiology, and micro. The points calculator on the Cuesta website really helps you see where you can work on getting more points. Its heavily weighted on your teas score. I got an 89.

Good luck!

I really appreciate your info! I’m hoping to apply fall 2020. Did you take your dad prerequisites at cuesta? If you did, do you have any recommendations on physiology professors?

Is it possible to have at least a C in most my sciences in the program ? I don’t have any repeats , but I got through with C’s And at least 17 years of nursing experience might compensate for it ?

Idk. Maybe if u get a really high score on the TEAS you might make it.

I would think you should try to retake the classes. You need a minimum 2.5 for your science GPA to even apply. For Cuesta that includes anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. Not sure about this year, but last year the lowest amount of points that was accepted was 83.2. So assuming you had the minimum science GPA of 2.5 and got all the other points, you would be at 85 points. The calculator tool they have on their website is super helpful.

Thank you for the link and info. I took mine but was told it wasn’t advisable to retake it as it would look like I failed?! Not too sure how true that info is.

Hi I took my sciences and passed all with C’s (I was working two jobs so it was the best I could do without failing) do you think it’s still possible for me as long as I am to score high on my teas score?
