is there only 1 application period for Spring and fall 2021? I am interested in the fall 2021 program since I will have my prerequisites completed after this fall.

Yes! I believe they have restructured their application process. CSUN now has one deadline (August 4, 2020) and this deadline will accept for both Spring AND fall 2021.

Straight from CSUN's website:

Quote

The ABSN program’s annual application cycle services a Spring and fall cohort. Once the Spring cohort is full, additional successful applicants may be offered a seat in the fall cohort. Due to high program demand, applicants are not at liberty to choose their start term. As such, applicants are advised to ensure that they would be able to start the program in either Spring or fall prior to applying.

Their prerequisite checklist unfortunately states that in progress coursework will not be accepted.

Looks like they also updated the website! It previously said the August 4 deadline was for both Spring and fall but now it says the August 4 deadline is for Spring 2021! Hopefully that means another deadline will appear for February like the advisor told you!

Does anyone know if work/volunteer experience is necessary for this program? I do not have that type of work/volunteer experience but was wondering if it was optional or actually a requirement for the application process.

Volunteer work/patient experience work is not necessary, but it is highly recommended!

Their Volunteer Experience Form states:

Quote

Prefer 100 hours or more of patient care experience in a clinical setting, completed within 24 months prior to submitting your application. CNA/EMT etc. school training/clinical hours are not considered volunteer hours.

I don't have any experience, either. ? I was all set to start volunteering when COVID happened! Crossing my fingers that my academic record / recommendations are good enough...

Hi guys,

I plan on applying for the fall cohort and would like some advice on my stats.

I have a current undergrad 3.33 GPA but I am taking anatomy, micro, physio, and other classes for Summer so those have not been incorporated into my GPA.

I got a C in the chem prereq and so my prereq GPA would be 3.52

Unfortunately, my volunteer hours in the ER got cut short due to covid-19. I only completed about 30 hours. ?

I had a 5-year internship at a medical center but that revolved mainly around administrative duties but we also got to job shadow medical professionals, learned how to bandage wounds/stop bleeding, computer skills and so much more. I just do not know how I would show that in the application.

I've been so anxious about my stats and not having done better that it's driving me crazy.

Also, how do I go about contacting an advisor?
