CSULA BSN FALL 2019

It may be a bit early, but I wanted to create this forum for all of us students who want to be accepted into CSULA's SON for Fall 2019. We can discuss the TEAS, pre-reqs, deadlines, points, CSU transfer procedures, etc. Let's do this!

Welcome zl159

We moved your thread to the Schools/Colleges forum for the best response. Good luck in your Nursing program.

Hi, is this meant to be for the ABSN program? Because it technically starts in the summer.

I applied for the 2018 cycle but did not get in and am going to reapply. I realized how competitive it is during the application process and that I probably needed to start volunteering etc a year earlier. I did get accepted to CSU San Marcos but decided it's important to stick around LA because I have a lot of opportunities at Cedars Sinai, where I volunteer. Good luck!

Same here! I'm going to take it in July! What about you?

I'm planning on taking it in December, since I'm taking my last science prereqs this fall I want to have everything fresh in my mind. I think I'm probably going to start studying a bit this summer though. Please let me know how it went once you take the TEAS! :)

What's up everyone! I too will be applying for Fall 2019!

I will be retaking the TEAS, but my stats as of now are:

Pre-Req GPA: 4.0 (10pts)

Overall GPA - 3.795 (5pts)

TEAS: Reading: 78.7 (3pts)

TEAS: English: 79 (3pts)

Work Experience: 1,000hrs CNA/Med Tech Assisted Living Facility (3pts)

Total: 24

I'm going to retake the TEAS and aim for about 25-26 points to be safe!

Where do you all feel you'll land point wise so far?

Hi everyone! I am reapplying to CSULA's nursing program in hopes of getting accepted. I am retaking my TEAS since I'm not really proud of my last TEAS score. Good luck to all of you taking the teas and applying! Hopefully everyone in this forum gets in :)

Hi everyone!

I'll also be applying for the Fall 2019 semester at CSULA! I'll have two semester left; CHEM 2B & PYSCH 24 in the Fall w/ MICRO 1 in the Spring.

Pre-Req GPA: 4.0, 10 points

Overall GPA: 4.0, 5 points

Volunteer Exp (> 100 hrs): 2 points

TEAS Exam: N/A

I'll be taking my TEAS Exam this upcoming Saturday at CSULA! I'm hoping to score at least in the 80th percentile-so fingers crossed!

Does anyone have any tips on taking the TEAS Exam that they're willing to share?

EDIT: Trying to score around 25 to 26 points! Really trying to aim for that 27 though! Getting into that 90th percentile on the TEAS will be a feat to beat...

Just an update for everyone! I took my TEAS Exam and was able to score in the 80th National PR for Reading and 90th National PR for English! My total score right now sits at 26 out of 28 possible points for CSULA! Hoping that's going to be good enough to get me in this year!

Hi everyone! I am currently a CSULA student applying as well!

Pre req GPA: 3.8 (10 points)

Cum GPA: 3.875 (5 points)

TEAS test: Reading: 75% percentile (3 points)

English Language Usage: 99% percentile (5 points)

Volunteer Hours: >100 (2 points)

In total, 25 points!!!

I will be retaking my TEAS test again to see if I can do better (aiming for 27 points!!!) and just pick between the better of the 2. Does anyone know how long it takes to send your TEAS test results to CSULA if you took it at another test location? I recently took it at Pasadena and I am not sure if I want to take it there again for my second time because the only available dates for me are in mid/late November: Veteran's Day & the week of Thanksgiving Break. Someone currently in the program told me that for them, it took at most a month for CSULA to receive their scores! The due date for the application hasn't been updated yet, but it's usually early/mid January, and I wanted to submit my app around the end of December just to be on the safe side (to avoid any technical difficulties that may occur around submission time).

They do have earlier dates, such as the tail end of October, but I don't want to risk missing class (hence me possibly scheduling the test on the days we don't have school), especially since it would be midterm season around that time and also because I have Bio lec/lab those days (Pasadena's testing dates are all on Mondays).

Also, if you take it at CSULA (it's so hard to get a spot, I remember attempting in June to get a spot for August and it was all sold out, that's why I'm leaning more towards Pasadena) do you still have to send your scores to them? I know that wherever you take your test, your scores will automatically be sent to them, but do we have to send them a 2nd time?

Sorry if this is all over the place *sweating* I heard that they weed out a majority of applicants because they don't fill out the application right, fail to send test scores, transcripts to the right places, at the right time, etc.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance, and good luck to us all!!!

Hi Veesoriano!

I took my TEAS at CSULA and just looked into how I would send them my scores via ATI! Apparently, if you take it at CSULA, sending your scores to them is free of charge. I'm not sure if it automatically sends them the results after you take the TEAS without requesting it. That's something to look into. I know that in order to get a spot at CSULA's testing site, I had to register way back in May! I literally checked every month for new testing dates to pop up!

Right now I believe they only have up to October!

EDIT: Also, I'm really scared about sending in all the right documents to the right place at the right time. It's even scarier to know that that's how they weed out a majority of applicants. Hopefully we can all help each other out when the application opens!
