CSUF ABSN Fall 2019

Published

Hey everyone! I'd like to start a thread for applicants to the Cal State Fullerton accelerated program. Feel free to ask questions, post your point totals, mention your alternative programs, vent, or do whatever you need to do haha. Good luck to you all!

Hi all! I applied to CSUF as an alternative to my first choice which is the UCI mepn program. I also applied to CSUSM, SDSU and a handful of schools in norcal. I really don't know much about this program/CSUF because I initially didn't plan on applying but changed my mind once I realized I really want to stay in socal. I'd love to know any insight anyone has on CSUF in general or this program!

I’m actually alumni for their psych program, and I believe CSUF is a great school. The campus is clean, my professors seemed passionate about the material, and admin was responsive. The only issue I had with the campus was that the parking lots filled up pretty quickly so you may find yourself parking at the far north end and walking to campus.

Also, I did take a few of my nursing prerequisites with the BSN nursing cohort so I have a little insight into the program. The courses I took were oriented towards nursing majors (eg. Microbio for Nursing and Allied Health, Chem for Nursing...), and I feel like the classes were more challenging than the prerequisite courses I took at my JC. My classmates and I hypothesized this was because the curriculum was designed for future health professionals, so for the benefit of patients they really made sure we knew our stuff haha.

I'm just curious if anyone has heard of or received an interview invitation (or denial) yet?

Hi all, I am still waiting on an email. I received the initial email that my application to the nursing program is complete, but nothing since then. I applied to this program last year and they sent out denials and invitations to interview the first week of February. I think it’s taking longer this time because they didn’t require a statement of purpose last year. It must take quite some time to read them all. But almost 3 weeks later I’m so anxious to find out!

Hmmm...thank you for the info. From previous posts I researched it seems the cut off for points is somewhere around 66-70. You'd think if it's a hard cut off that they'd send out denials to those under that number and then read the statements of the qualified people. . .

I didn't realize they used a cut off number. I thought it would be a more holistic approach? Point is, if they do use a cut off number and your number is below (it) then your statement of purpose doesn't sway them one way or the other (matter)?

What are other interpretations/ideas of the selection process?

Anyone have any insight as to when interview invites will be sent out? Their website says April but that seems really late...

I received an email mentioning invites will be sent the last week of March and interviews will be held mid-April.

I received an interview invite by email about 15 min ago. Hope you all got good news as well!

I got an email to interview as well! I hope you all did as well! I’m hoping for the Monday afternoon interview time slot.

I did too! Congrats everyone! I'm wondering what the math test will be like? Anyone have any ideas?

I got an interview offer today as well. For the math portion, I think it might deal with medicine doses. I'm curious about the group activity...maybe patient scenario ?any other thoughts?? Good luck all!!
