Apr 3, 201313 yr Anyone on the edge of your seat waiting for these letters to come ??? This was the only university I applied to so I'm startling to get anxious !!! ?
May 31, 201313 yr A definite no on the Concord campus for me. Since I'm already across the bay near Redwood City, clinicals are going to be interesting to attend, so I really don't want to be farther away than I have to be. I e-mailed them back within 10 minutes of receiving my notification, so I have my fingers crossed to get Hayward.
May 31, 201313 yr Quite a few. I was at Concord campus and went to a SNF, John Muir Concord, John Muir Walnut Creek, Children's Oakland, Herrick in Berkeley, Alta Bates in Berkeley, San Ramon Regional, John Muir Home Health, and there are like 20 options for preceptorship sites...Wow! That's impressive. Thanks Jennafezz! Now I get to decide between CSUEB BSN (Concord hopefully) and Oregon Health and Sciences University ABSN. One's a 27 month program located where I want to work, and the other is a 15 month program with a national reputation where I don't want to work. Hmmm..
May 31, 201313 yr I got in too. Now I'm torn between SFSU and CSUEB...[/quote']If this helps, SFSU changed their curriculum starting this Fall. They removed their preceptorship, and now pathophysiology and pharmacology will be integrated into various subject areas. On the bright side, it's now a semester shorter at 2 years total.I got into SFSU too. After talking with a couple of SF nurses who evaluate new grads for hiring, I found out that the preceptorship is a big thing that they look at. New nurses who went through a senior preceptorship apparently tend to be better prepared and more confident. It sucks, because they have clinical sites I prefer and it's much closer to home.

Are you going to East Bay too or you've accepted somewhere else?

OHSU is a really good school and only 15 months long, but I don't want to work in Portland, I want to work here. It's going to be a tough decision.
