CSN FALL 2016

Has anyone heard if they got in or not!? 😁😁😁😁

I haven't heard anything yet. I'm pretty sure we have at least 2 more weeks left. I saw in another group for last fall semester they didn't start letting people know they got in until April 21st.

It would be nice, I have done all of my pre-reqs and took the NLN back when that was their test before the TEAS, passed NLN but since I didn't get in for one of the programs, I had to go and take the TEAS when it changed and I passed all but the science part. Well now my bio 189, and maybe even my A&P have expired and so now I will have to re-take them I believe. í ½í¸• I think I'll go meet with a counselor. I got behind when I had my son and then became single mom and had to change to full time job. Good luck to all of you! í ½í¸Š

Did anyone apply with Substitution Waivers?? I remember that during the limited entry orientation she said you MUST make sure the sub-waiver is signed by the Office of the Registrar. It was but it was missing a signature from the "Academic Officer." Part of me is assuming that the Office of the Registrar trumps everything and if it was processed and approved I will be fine but the other half of me is thinking that I'm not going to get in because of a signature. My sub-waiver was approved the day before the Fall 2016 deadline so I had no other choice but to turn it in and hope for the best. Anyone else have anything like this happen to them?!?

Oh my substitution Weavers weren't signed by an academic officer but I don't have an academic officer so that's probably why. Your going to be fine

1. Do you start doing clinicals the first week of school? And I see it says 6:45 starting time are the hospitals near Charleston or far?

2. For nursing 101 did you take it all in one day like 8-10:50 lec and then 11-2 lab

3. How much time out of class did you spend prepping and doing homework per week

I moved here from San Diego a few months ago and I'm just trying to find a daycare that will work with that kind of schedule for my 2 year old daughter . Thank you in advance

Yeah it should be someowhere in the next two weeks. My friend doing Dental Hyg (due Feb 1 for them) got her acceptance March 25. So good luck to all of us!!!

1. The first three weeks of clinicals is ACE (alternative clinical experience) where you go over the basics before going to your first actual clinical. ACE will either be at the Charleston or Cheyenne campus.

For the 1st semester you will be going to LTC for 4 weeks (? I don't remember), and then rehab- suc acute care- for 6 weeks. Locations for clinical range. It's hard to say where your clinicals will be. However, once you know what teacher you have you may be able to figure where you could possibly going. Certain teachers tend to go to the same clinica sites but things can change.

2. I took my lecture on Thursday and lab on Wednesday. I liked having them on separate days, as I'm not a fan of long days. But since you have a daughter, going to school in the least amount of days may be helpful. And I have longer days now and they are doable but tiring.

3. I spent maybe 20-25 hours or so prepping and studying. Once you get to sub acute care you will be required to get patient information at your clinical site. Doing so took me two hours tops but some people take longer. Then you have to finish the medication table or cards (depending on your instructor) and the takes around one hour (it took me a little longer sometimes).

This helped a lot. Did you do pharmacology online or in class?? Also do you have any tips on where I should get my books for cheaper? Thank you again. I want to only do 3 days because I have a 2 year old and daycare is so expensive.

I did pharmacology online. The teacher posted power points with voice clips on some/a good chuck of the slides. Also I was required to do four or five discussion posts (I don't remember how many exactly) as part of my participation grade. They really didn't take that long. If you ever feel like you need to sit in the actual lecture, it should be no problem.

The books are sold in bundles- ebooks or the physical books, which come with the ebooks. The ebooks bundle is cheaper. You can also download your ebooks to 3 different devices, I believe. The physical bundle cost approximately $800 (I bought mine two years ago, so I can't remember the exact price) but the bundles supposedly get cheaper as you progress in the program. I know some people bought everything separately on Amazon. Some people bought the physical bundle and split it with someone else who was willing to take the ebooks or vice versa. You can also try joining the Facebook group of those in the first semester now and ask if anyone want to sell you any of their books. I personally keep all of mine for reference but it's worth a try to ask semesters before you.
